Aging

There are several contributing factors when it comes to Aging Skin. Here are the most common:

  1. Genetics
  2. Environment
  3. Diet
  4. Skincare
Usually if you look at your parents and how they age that will typically be the same for you. Dark Circles and frown lines are some of the most common passed down factors. There are products that can help improve the appearance of dark circles, lines, and wrinkles around the eyes.

Product Recommendation: Fresh Lotus Eye Gel/Sephora $48.00
(Lotus Eye Gel is a revitalizing fluid formula that alleviates puffiness, dark circles, and signs of fatigue with a unique combination of highly developed and preventive botanicals.)

Our environment is also an important factor that weighs heavy on your skin. There are several factors to consider, including the sun, cold or dry weather, the wind, air-conditioning and central heating, and pollution.http://au.health.yahoo.com/041101/25/1uzp.html?r=967673065

Product Recommendation: IB Shield™ Humidity Lock-Out Shine Spray/Sephora $32.00 (Adds subtle, natural shine using a special blend of Ionic Balance minerals and powerful antioxidants that act as a veil of protection against damage from climate and other environmental factors. )

What we consume in our everyday diet contributes largely to the appearance and also the development of our skin. Incorporating lots of anti-oxidants, fatty fish, and Vitamin A will not only improve your skin but also help to prevent signs of aging. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/features/skin-food

IE: Salmon, Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and plums. Green leafy vegetables and lots of fresh juice.

It is vital to nurture and take care of your skin properly everyday. A skincare regimen that consist of cleansing, toning, treating, moisturizing, and protecting is important everyday day. Staying consistent with a skincare regime will count for wonderful and dramatic benefits in the long run.

Sleep and SKIN! Water and SKIN!

Okay, I know everyone wants to hear about the makeup aspect already, but I have to make sure you FAB/GLAM ladies get this skin regime consistent and under control.

It has been said time and time again that it is impossible to have great makeup without first developing "GREAT SKIN!" I can truly attest to this.

There are several different factors that bring me to this paticular topic at 5:05 AM L.A. time.

Now lets not forget we have already touched on the importance of sunscreen/sunblock, right?

BTW: I have been awake for approximately 20hrs plus without any sleep. WHY? I decided to drink 2 RockStars and 1 RedBull. Now I have to admit I would not recommend anyone to ever attempt that amount, but hey I had a long night ahead of me.

So I say that, to say this, the amount of sleep you get each night is just as important as your water intake. Your Health and nutrition are two factors that are found to have a huge impact on the condition of your skin.

Water=http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283(this article give lots of detailed info)

Water is important for a number of reason and I will only touch on the one mainly for skin. Basically to keep it simple, if you want to try to hold on to that youthful, supple, and plump skin, I suggest you drink up ladies. Dehydration is no joke.

Dehydrated skin can lead to dry, flaky, and not so FAB skin.

Sleep=http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-hygiene(this article gives all the great details)

It's like this, if you want to get old and have wrinkles, dark circles, and many other horrible factors, then don't sleep the recommended amount. Trust me, it will catch up with you later.

The difference between sunscreen and sunblock!

That big bright Star in the sky called the Sun can be your worst enemy and should be taken seriously. It can cause lots of health risk for all generations, young and old. It can harm not only your skin but your eyes as well.

Sunscreen helps protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays by reflecting, absorbing, and scattering both ultraviolet A and B radiation.

Sunblock, as opposed to sunscreen, is a lotion that actually blocks the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It has more benefits than sunscreen because the sun is blocked from penetrating your skin.

The Sun gives off harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can damage your skin and eyes. Did you know that a tan is a sign of damage to your skin! A sunburn may hurt for a while, but damaging your skin over many years can cause many problems, including skin cancer. That is why you should always wear sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher when you will be out in the Sun for more than a few minutes. This applies even for cloudy days -- though not as bright as sunny days, much of the harmful UV light still comes through.

To help protect your eyes, use sunglasses that filter 100% of UV light. When you buy glasses, check for labels that say 100% UV Protection. People who don't protect their eyes when they are young run the risk of loss of sight when older, including getting cataracts.

If you go out into the Sun and you notice you are squinting, that is a sign you not only need protection on your eyes but you are also creating lines and wrinkles around your eyes from the constant squinting.

Some clients prefer to have their sunscreen in their makeup. I think this is great, but I prefer to use a separate sunscreen after i use my moisturizer and then I also make sure it's in my foundation. Please keep in mind it's all about what works for you. I must remind you that sunscreen should be applied everyday to any part of your body that will be exposed to the sun.

Whenever you are going to spend long periods of time out in the sun I recommend using a sunblock of SPF 30 or more, one that is Waterproof and Sweat proof.

Your skin will love you longer if you love it NOW!

Products I recommend...

How to approach your significant other about Skincare!

When it comes to men and skincare 90% of them could care less. At the same time its a topic you don't want to take lightly.

Hand them a bar of soap and towel and that will be used for ever inch of the body including the face!

In my career, I have noticed the best way to approach a guy about skincare is to suggest something you recommend, or you can also just buy it and trust me they will use it.

Believe it or not they enjoy using our bath products in secret without even telling us.

I once had a friend who caught her husband using her Mary Kay 3-in-1 Cleanser. When he was caught red handed his only excuse for using it was, "I like the way it makes my face feel after shaving!" LOL. yea he was totally busted practicing metro-tendencies.

I say make the man feel comfortable about using skincare products, introduce it to him slowly.

Now if you have a man that is eager to get his skin in check, by all means discuss his options with him, be supportive, and let him know that you are behind men and great skin 100%.

So far I have my man wearing sunscreen all over his body, where before he didn't even apply lotion! Oh the madness…

The key point to remember when approaching your man about his skin is to:
  1. Look for a segway into the subject, don’t just bring it up abruptly with no regards to the fact that it’s a sensitive subject for most guys.

  2. Make sure you are doing your part with your skin, so he is learning from example.
  3. Recommend products for him and take it upon yourself to buy it for him so he can try it out and see if he likes it.

  4. Reassure him of the importance on skincare and the long term benefits.
  5. Keep it simple and easy, too much thought and steps turns anyone away. Maybe you can start off introducing one product at a time. IE: Lotion, sunscreen, after care for shaving.

Products I recommend to jumpstart your Man and his SKIN..

Tendskin is one of my favorite products. If you are trying to ease skincare on him in a subtle way this is great product. All you have to do is tell him benefits of it, plain and simple...after shaving you use it all over shaved areas to prevent razor burn, ingrown hairs, and blemishes.

Tend Skin The solution for any cosmetic problem related to hair removal. Men can use it on their face, neck and back of the head while women find it useful on legs, bikini line, underarms and anywhere else hair removal causes razor bumps. Use in conjunction with shaving, waxing electrolysis or epilating. Caution: If you have an allergy to Aspirin (hives, itching) do not use this product.

Great Makeup starts with Great skin!

It's not possible to have great, smooth, fresh looking makeup without first addressing your skin.
The ideal steps for your skin regimen routine should be
  1. Cleanse
  2. Tone
  3. Treat
  4. Moisturize
  5. Protect

Now don't get me wrong, there are no rules when it comes to makeup and these steps don't have to be followed verbatim. However, it's best that you at least cleanse, moisturize and protect if nothing else.

Your Ultimate Pathway to Beauty

Glamour Lane is your narrow pathway to the alluring beauty you posses within yourself. Everyone has a sense of beauty and charm that dwells inside their soul.

The word beauty can simply be defined as any quality you posses that gives pleasure to who you truly are.

Makeup is essential to the everyday life of any woman. From lip gloss to mascara, they all have a significant impact on us.

Yes, I know there are some of you who say, "I go natural, I don't wear makeup!" What I usually say to that is, "Makeup is not your enemy, it should be viewed as an accessory." If you ask me everyone can benefit from an even skintone. There are very few people that can truly say they have even skin tone all around.

I have noticed throughout my makeup career and working with all types of women from various backgrounds, that a lot of women seem to think makeup is some hard task that is going to take forever.

Well guess what? That's what Glamour Lane is here for. Not only will my blog cater to those women who practically have no time at all for makeup, but I will also give you tips, show you tricks, and dynamic video techniques to transform you into

FAB/GLAM.
