Eminence Organic Skin Care Wild Plum Eye Cream $70

Did you know the skin around the orbital bone happens to be the thinnest layer of skin on the face? It's also usually the place where the first signs of aging can occur. Which is why it's important to not only keep it hydrated, but also practice being gentle around this area.

When applying anything around the eye you should always use your ring finger because it has the least amount of pressure points, which allows you to be delicate.

I have to admit I love this entire product line, however the eye cream is my fav.

While working as a Licensed Esthetician at a local high end spa, I was introduced to the Eminence Organic Skin Care line.

I'm loving this product because of the consistency and results. After using this product for 6 wks, I have noticed a diminished appearance of lines and darkness. Although sometimes these can be hereditary, they can be improved with the proper skin care.

Some of the ingredients include:
Wild Plum Juice: brightens skin and soothes irritations
Shea Butter: moisturizes and repairs the look of skin
Grape Oil: contains antioxidants that deliver hydration
Marigold Oil: soothes and tones skin
Green Tea: high in antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids, and vitamins for youthful-looking skin
Horse Chestnut: toning and tightening
Biocomplex™: a booster of antioxidants, vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, and Alpha Lipoic Acid to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve the appearance of skin
Evening Primrose: softens and soothes the appearance of skin

Sleeping with Makeup! The Ultimate Makeup SIN!

In my 7 yrs as a makeup artist, I applied makeup to a countless number of clients and I say I have heard several clients tell me "I sometime's don't wash my face"

Admittedly, I have been guilty of this Makeup Sin myself, however I'm here to tell you there is a solution to night of drinking, dancing, and not so sober nights. I know when you drag in at 3am, 4am, or whatever time you get in from dropping it "LOW" the only thing you want to do is find your pillow and bed.

Well before you do that, reach on your nightstand and grab a Makeup Remover Wipe. I'm not saying this replaces cleansing your face, but it sure does help to prevent breakouts and clogged pores. Not only do they remove surface makeup, Neutrogena Makeup Wipes All-in-One has moisture benefits and doesn't irritate eyes.

Makeup Wipes will save you and give you a good night rest!

Beauty Review: Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion SPF 30

It's been so long since I did a beauty review!
Since then I have bought in to the propaganda that is anti-aging!

Honestly, I don't think it's propaganda. I think it's very serious. Although I am a mid-20 something, I think it's never to early to start.

So in my anti-aging/beauty quest I will be giving some reviews. They will include price/quality/where I bought it and what I think of it.

The first item I will review is Eucerin Daily Protective Moisture Lotion.

First things first, Eucerin is going to have to get better placement. This lotion, bargain priced at $8.49 for 4 fl. oz. at Target,
is kind of lost in the endless abyss of body lotions.

Now to the product: This morning after washing my face, I went to put this product on ( I never leave the house without at least SPF 30 on my face). It went on in true Eucerin fashion, a little thick and took way more rubbing in that my last moisturizer. However, it was not greasy and the sunblock-esque scent went away after it was all rubbed in.

It has worn well under my make-up thus far ( the packaging said "Great alone or under make-up"). I think I'll see this one through to the end.

Wrap up:

Pros: SPF 30 UVA & UVB protection, Price (some of it's counterparts are upward of $15-$20), Amount of product vs. price

Cons: Smell, absorption time

On a scale of one to 10 I would give this product a seven.

Stay tuned as I post more reviews on beauty products!

On this journey fab fact today!

Today we learned about the history of skin. YOUR SKIN IS THE BIGGEST ORGAN!
The one fact I found to be most interesting was during the Renaissance Era.
- Did you know the women practiced shaving and tweezing their eyebrows and hairline. They believed it was a sign of intelligence. So the further back your hairline was shaved the more intelligent you were.
--------------That brings me to our current times and to this point and question--------- So with the latest Lacefront NO NOs I have heard and seen is ladies shaving off their hairline to make it stay stick or what? Do they have the same concept of the Renaissance woman? Do they think they are more intelligent the more hairline they shave in 2009. Just wondering...This is a little known fact I learned today!

Back in school again and love it!

Fab Greetings,

I have decided to embark on my most recent endeavor and take my Makeup Artistry Career to another and get certified in to be a Licensed Esthetician!

Show me whatcha working wit!

To embrace the celebrity that lives within you, I always tell my clients to accentuate your best feature.

My favorite is the eyes, because I can decorate them with any shade of eyeshadow and pull it off. When it comes to magnifying your best feature, the rule of thumb is to always do it gracefully but captivating to say the least!

It can be something as simple as a very nice blush, to an eye catching Lip Color.

I always encourage my clients not to be afraid to step outside the status quo of makeup. Push the limits and try something different.

Makeup has no limits and or boundaries; it allows you to use your face as a canvas. The fun thing is anytime you mess up, you can always wash it off and start over!

Stay tuned for my 5min glam session! coming soon!

Oily Skin

Over productive sebaceous glands are responsible for oily skin. The good news is this skin type is generally slower to show fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. The downside can be more frequent breakouts, large pores and a greasy appearance.

I suggest a cleanser that will help to reduce some of the oil production and clean out your pores.
I like to use Mary Kay 3 in 1 cleanser for oily skin because it Cleanse, Tones, and Scrubs, leaving my skin not too dry but rather smooth to touch. www.marykay.com/glamlane $18.00

Using a clay mask 2 to 3 times a week may also help with sebum production.
Dr. Brandt Poreless Purifying Mask $40.00 Absorbs oil, draws out impurities and tightens enlarged pores to clear blackheads and breakouts.

There is also a myth that people with oily skin do not need to use a moisturizer. This is not the case. Everyone needs moisture, you just have to make sure you choose the correct kind. A mattifying lotion with SPF is great for oily skin. Any product line that will not clog your pores is exactly what a person with oily skin needs.

Breakouts

We all suffer from breakouts and there are several different factors that can cause a breakout.

If you have a breakout around the mouth area it can be contributed to a hormonal factor. IE: If you have changed Birth Control or if you are going through Menopause.

If you have a breakout around your cheek area near your ears or on your chin, that can be contributed to your phone usage. Not cleaning your cell phone, house phone, or any phone you talk on can cause zits to appear. I know for myself these are my most common breakouts.

Another cause of breakouts is not exfoliating your skin properly. You should exfoliate your face at least 2 to 3 times a week. Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin's outermost surface. When done correctly, exfoliation leaves the skin smoother and fresher looking. It also makes penetration easier for products like serums that nourish the skin.

When dealing with sensitive acne prone skin you want to use a mild exfoliate. You would benefit more from a chemical exfoliate rather then a manual one.

Manual exfoliation is when you physically remove the dead skin cells
Chemical exfoliation is when one of the ingredients in the product you are using chemically dissolves the old skin cells, without any additional effort required from you.

A manual exfoliate tends to irritate a breakout and spread the bacteria causing more breakouts. A chemical exfoliate for sensitive skin that I would recommend Murad Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel Sephora $53.00

Product Recommendation: Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash/Sephora $25.00 (Designed to effectively cleanse the skin while providing resurfacing benefits. Gentle enough to use daily, this unique formula is sulfate-free and formulated with ingredients designed to replenish and protect the skin with topical antioxidants as it helps condition the skin and retain its moisture level.)

It is also important to keep your hands out of your face. Your hands come in contact with all kinds of nasty, greasy, oily stuff throughout your day that you don't even realize. Touching your hands to your face transfers all that dirt, grease, and oil from your fingers to your face. Yes, not touching your face will help your complexion.

If you are a person that are prone to breakouts it is best to use a face wash that contains salicylic acid. This active ingredient will not only help with present breakouts, but it will help to prevent future breakouts from occurring.

For those of you who suffer from the old so fateful ZIT that comes when Aunt Flow (your cycle) comes to town, it's best try to catch it before it surfaces. I like to use Neutrongena Spot Treatment. I can usually feel where it is going to surface and I just apply it there, and the next morning the ZIT is ZAPPED!

Product Recommendation: Neutrogena On-the-Spot Treatment/Walgreens $6.99

Skin that is prone to breakouts should invest in a skin care regimen catered specially to the needs of Acne Skin. Staying consistent and mindful of your breakout when you have acne can have renown benefits for future breakouts.

IE: Proactiv http://www.proactiv.com/index.php?acnt=GTP0000S&s_kwcid=TC-5339-180088931012-S-18776901512

If you find that your breakout persist or get worse seek treatment from a professional.

Aging

There are several contributing factors when it comes to Aging Skin. Here are the most common:

  1. Genetics
  2. Environment
  3. Diet
  4. Skincare
Usually if you look at your parents and how they age that will typically be the same for you. Dark Circles and frown lines are some of the most common passed down factors. There are products that can help improve the appearance of dark circles, lines, and wrinkles around the eyes.

Product Recommendation: Fresh Lotus Eye Gel/Sephora $48.00
(Lotus Eye Gel is a revitalizing fluid formula that alleviates puffiness, dark circles, and signs of fatigue with a unique combination of highly developed and preventive botanicals.)

Our environment is also an important factor that weighs heavy on your skin. There are several factors to consider, including the sun, cold or dry weather, the wind, air-conditioning and central heating, and pollution.http://au.health.yahoo.com/041101/25/1uzp.html?r=967673065

Product Recommendation: IB Shield™ Humidity Lock-Out Shine Spray/Sephora $32.00 (Adds subtle, natural shine using a special blend of Ionic Balance minerals and powerful antioxidants that act as a veil of protection against damage from climate and other environmental factors. )

What we consume in our everyday diet contributes largely to the appearance and also the development of our skin. Incorporating lots of anti-oxidants, fatty fish, and Vitamin A will not only improve your skin but also help to prevent signs of aging. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/features/skin-food

IE: Salmon, Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and plums. Green leafy vegetables and lots of fresh juice.

It is vital to nurture and take care of your skin properly everyday. A skincare regimen that consist of cleansing, toning, treating, moisturizing, and protecting is important everyday day. Staying consistent with a skincare regime will count for wonderful and dramatic benefits in the long run.

Sleep and SKIN! Water and SKIN!

Okay, I know everyone wants to hear about the makeup aspect already, but I have to make sure you FAB/GLAM ladies get this skin regime consistent and under control.

It has been said time and time again that it is impossible to have great makeup without first developing "GREAT SKIN!" I can truly attest to this.

There are several different factors that bring me to this paticular topic at 5:05 AM L.A. time.

Now lets not forget we have already touched on the importance of sunscreen/sunblock, right?

BTW: I have been awake for approximately 20hrs plus without any sleep. WHY? I decided to drink 2 RockStars and 1 RedBull. Now I have to admit I would not recommend anyone to ever attempt that amount, but hey I had a long night ahead of me.

So I say that, to say this, the amount of sleep you get each night is just as important as your water intake. Your Health and nutrition are two factors that are found to have a huge impact on the condition of your skin.

Water=http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283(this article give lots of detailed info)

Water is important for a number of reason and I will only touch on the one mainly for skin. Basically to keep it simple, if you want to try to hold on to that youthful, supple, and plump skin, I suggest you drink up ladies. Dehydration is no joke.

Dehydrated skin can lead to dry, flaky, and not so FAB skin.

Sleep=http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-hygiene(this article gives all the great details)

It's like this, if you want to get old and have wrinkles, dark circles, and many other horrible factors, then don't sleep the recommended amount. Trust me, it will catch up with you later.

The difference between sunscreen and sunblock!

That big bright Star in the sky called the Sun can be your worst enemy and should be taken seriously. It can cause lots of health risk for all generations, young and old. It can harm not only your skin but your eyes as well.

Sunscreen helps protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays by reflecting, absorbing, and scattering both ultraviolet A and B radiation.

Sunblock, as opposed to sunscreen, is a lotion that actually blocks the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It has more benefits than sunscreen because the sun is blocked from penetrating your skin.

The Sun gives off harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can damage your skin and eyes. Did you know that a tan is a sign of damage to your skin! A sunburn may hurt for a while, but damaging your skin over many years can cause many problems, including skin cancer. That is why you should always wear sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher when you will be out in the Sun for more than a few minutes. This applies even for cloudy days -- though not as bright as sunny days, much of the harmful UV light still comes through.

To help protect your eyes, use sunglasses that filter 100% of UV light. When you buy glasses, check for labels that say 100% UV Protection. People who don't protect their eyes when they are young run the risk of loss of sight when older, including getting cataracts.

If you go out into the Sun and you notice you are squinting, that is a sign you not only need protection on your eyes but you are also creating lines and wrinkles around your eyes from the constant squinting.

Some clients prefer to have their sunscreen in their makeup. I think this is great, but I prefer to use a separate sunscreen after i use my moisturizer and then I also make sure it's in my foundation. Please keep in mind it's all about what works for you. I must remind you that sunscreen should be applied everyday to any part of your body that will be exposed to the sun.

Whenever you are going to spend long periods of time out in the sun I recommend using a sunblock of SPF 30 or more, one that is Waterproof and Sweat proof.

Your skin will love you longer if you love it NOW!

Products I recommend...

How to approach your significant other about Skincare!

When it comes to men and skincare 90% of them could care less. At the same time its a topic you don't want to take lightly.

Hand them a bar of soap and towel and that will be used for ever inch of the body including the face!

In my career, I have noticed the best way to approach a guy about skincare is to suggest something you recommend, or you can also just buy it and trust me they will use it.

Believe it or not they enjoy using our bath products in secret without even telling us.

I once had a friend who caught her husband using her Mary Kay 3-in-1 Cleanser. When he was caught red handed his only excuse for using it was, "I like the way it makes my face feel after shaving!" LOL. yea he was totally busted practicing metro-tendencies.

I say make the man feel comfortable about using skincare products, introduce it to him slowly.

Now if you have a man that is eager to get his skin in check, by all means discuss his options with him, be supportive, and let him know that you are behind men and great skin 100%.

So far I have my man wearing sunscreen all over his body, where before he didn't even apply lotion! Oh the madness…

The key point to remember when approaching your man about his skin is to:
  1. Look for a segway into the subject, don’t just bring it up abruptly with no regards to the fact that it’s a sensitive subject for most guys.

  2. Make sure you are doing your part with your skin, so he is learning from example.
  3. Recommend products for him and take it upon yourself to buy it for him so he can try it out and see if he likes it.

  4. Reassure him of the importance on skincare and the long term benefits.
  5. Keep it simple and easy, too much thought and steps turns anyone away. Maybe you can start off introducing one product at a time. IE: Lotion, sunscreen, after care for shaving.

Products I recommend to jumpstart your Man and his SKIN..

NIVEA skincare is not only great for men, but also cost efficent, and seeing as how GAS prices aren't going down anytime soon, I believe in helping everyone cut cost but maintain great skin!

STEP 2 - Cleanse! The first step in a face care regimen should be cleansing using the newly formulated NIVEA FOR MEN Double Action Face Wash Now with the added benefit of Care Pro Tec, this face wash will not only clear away dirt and excess oils that can lead to unwanted blemishes at any age, but also provide long lasting hydration and boost the skin's natural defence capabilities.

This gel quickly massages into an extra creamy lather, ensuring a closer, smoother and a gentler shave every time.

Tendskin is one of my favorite products. If you are trying to ease skincare on him in a subtle way this is great product. All you have to do is tell him benefits of it, plain and simple...after shaving you use it all over shaved areas to prevent razor burn, ingrown hairs, and blemishes.

Tend Skin The solution for any cosmetic problem related to hair removal. Men can use it on their face, neck and back of the head while women find it useful on legs, bikini line, underarms and anywhere else hair removal causes razor bumps. Use in conjunction with shaving, waxing electrolysis or epilating. Caution: If you have an allergy to Aspirin (hives, itching) do not use this product.

Great Makeup starts with Great skin!

It's not possible to have great, smooth, fresh looking makeup without first addressing your skin.
The ideal steps for your skin regimen routine should be
  1. Cleanse
  2. Tone
  3. Treat
  4. Moisturize
  5. Protect

Now don't get me wrong, there are no rules when it comes to makeup and these steps don't have to be followed verbatim. However, it's best that you at least cleanse, moisturize and protect if nothing else.

Your Ultimate Pathway to Beauty

Glamour Lane is your narrow pathway to the alluring beauty you posses within yourself. Everyone has a sense of beauty and charm that dwells inside their soul.

The word beauty can simply be defined as any quality you posses that gives pleasure to who you truly are.

Makeup is essential to the everyday life of any woman. From lip gloss to mascara, they all have a significant impact on us.

Yes, I know there are some of you who say, "I go natural, I don't wear makeup!" What I usually say to that is, "Makeup is not your enemy, it should be viewed as an accessory." If you ask me everyone can benefit from an even skintone. There are very few people that can truly say they have even skin tone all around.

I have noticed throughout my makeup career and working with all types of women from various backgrounds, that a lot of women seem to think makeup is some hard task that is going to take forever.

Well guess what? That's what Glamour Lane is here for. Not only will my blog cater to those women who practically have no time at all for makeup, but I will also give you tips, show you tricks, and dynamic video techniques to transform you into

FAB/GLAM.
